Alexander Soros

Alexander Soros, born October 27, 1985 in New York, is an American investor and philanthropist, son of financier George Soros and Susan Weber. He grew up in Katonah, New York, with his younger brother, Gregory. He attended King Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford, Connecticut, before graduating in 2009 from New York University with a bachelor's degree in history. In 2018, he earned a doctorate in modern European history from the University of California, Berkeley, with a dissertation titled "Jewish Dionysus: Heine, Nietzsche and the Politics of Literature." 

In 2011, Alexander founded the Alexander Soros Foundation, dedicated to promoting civil rights, social justice and education. He is also chairman of the board of the Open Society Foundations, the philanthropic organization founded by his father. In June 2023, it was announced that Alexander would take control of his father's philanthropic activities, running a $25 billion empire.

In addition to his philanthropic activities, Alexander serves on the investment committee of Soros Fund Management, overseeing the family and foundation's investments.  

Alexander is also active in the academic field, having served as a visiting assistant professor of political studies at Bard College and a postdoctoral fellow at the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities. 

He also serves on the Bard College Board of Trustees. In 2018, he was named one of the Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum, recognizing his growing influence in global affairs. On a personal level, Alexander is engaged to Huma Abedin, a political consultant and former aide to Hillary Clinton. They announced their engagement in July 2024.
